As the dawn of a new year breaks, best wishes are sent to friends, families and well wishers alike, with gleams of hope that the year begins and ends well.
Amidst these celebrations, we think wild and wide; writing budgets and planning for the year – The kids school fees, house rent, wardrobe upgrade and upkeep, the demanding job and Yes, spiritual life. All pointing straight in our faces leaving us in a cycle, these, we see as obstacles that we must brace up to deal with squarely.
The need to balance all and find a level playing ground so none is lagging crops up even as the “Fear of the Unknown” beckons on us.

Seconds, minutes, hours, days… As time is expended, we make different decisions, especially ones unexpected that revel in our continuous complains. We take up the habit of comparing ourselves with others whom we feel are in better positions with neglect to our distinctiveness, the originality in us. Being *YOUnique!

Unfortunately, we often find ourselves in the caste of persons that need to be reminded of the less privileged and how they live and still enjoy. The ones we label; Orphans, Out-of-School, Mentally Derailed, Bedridden and those six feet under. Then, we remember that our existence is not of our own doing. Have you forgotten so soon – like it’s possible🤥 – that the breathe we enjoy isn’t as a result of our great works and righteousness. It’s not a measure of our personality, capacity or capability as some feel, neither is it a measure of the kinda love we have for God the Father.
It’s Just Grace, and this we will agree on.

“We’re not overcomers because we fought, but because God has our backs, That’s grace…”

So, Just before you make that long list of new year resolve, it’s time to make the first resolve to be YOU.

  • You wish to say something? Stop saying someone already said it. Say it still.
  • You wish to write? Someone already wrote on the topic? Write it still.
  • You want to dance? You think you don’t know how to “shake body” like me? Shake it still.
  • This last one is the first! The Gap itself. Listen to God. Let Him Lead.

First lesson of the year was from Judges 7. The story of the won battle: 30,000 foot soldiers became 300 plus God. But these self realizing path for Gideon is what I love most:

KJV:And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.
KJV:But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:
KJV:And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.
KJV:And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
KJV:And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
KJV:And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.
KJV:And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the Lord hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

Gideon here had to hear, for himself from the enemy’s mouth, what God had ordained him to be.

Look, let them say, you’re not what they say! You’re what God says: The Head, A Conqueror, A Victor, A Part of something big,…The Next Big Thing. You are YOUnique!

This year, dare to be you!

Here’s to another marvelous year,
With love💕 From Shobb’s Diary,
Happy New Year 🎉.
